Ken Watts was born at Devizes, Wiltshire, in 1933, and has spent most of his life in the county His interest in local history and topography is long standing, and his early retirement in 1989 from his profession as an architect has enabled him to devote much time to these interests Having spent much of his recreational time roaming over the countryside of Wiltshire and studying its history, he has developed a profound feeling for the county s history and its associations, about which he has written, in the words of a reviewer, with modesty and great learning His publications include Snap, the History, Depopulation and Destruction of a Wiltshire Village 1989 Droving in Wiltshire, the Trade and its Routes 1990 the Marlborough Downs 1993 Exploring Historic Wiltshire, Volume 1, North 1997 and Exploring Historic Wiltshire, Volume 2, South 1998 as well as magazine articles, walks booklets, and papers for archaeological journals.
