  • I enjoyed the first half of this text, as it's got a strong personal voice and the subject matter is engaging. The second half wasn't quite as good in my opinion, and gets into a lot of doctrine that teens (the purported audience) don't really need to get into quite so much. Some great advice for teens and even adults! 3.5 stars

  • I picked this up thinking it was a novel, which it isn’t! But I found it very interesting and read it through quite quickly. I agreed with a lot of the stuff she said, particularly the way women in our culture are trained from a very young age to be obsessed with their physical appearance, which must fit into a certain culturally-accepted norm, usually centered around what ‘men like’ or ‘men don’t like’ (i.e. men don’t like short hair, men like curves) instead of what is natural or [...]

  • I thought I would enjoy the whole book on the same level, once I started really enjoying the first half; it was interesting and thought-provoking, but then the second half came along and I enjoyed it a lot less. I ended up skimming most of it, as a matter of fact, and wishing I hadn't even done that, because where the first half was, for me, interesting and left me thinking, left me questioning, the second was too full on.
