  • I felt that this book was very rushed. It had a pretty good build-up in the first half, then it just raced to the finish like there was no tomorrow. Scenes ended abruptly, usually just as things got interesting. Just as I started to get drawn into the story, the scene would end, and the story would pick up again several days later in a completely different setting. It was as if the author was afraid to tackle the big scenes. Really, while build up to a big revelation, and then end the scene befo [...]

  • I had trouble to rate this book. On the one hand, it is one of the better romance books that I've read in the last few months, but maybe I just had some bad luck in picking up my lectures. On the other hand, it couldn'e catch my full attention. It wasn't a bad book, I just didn't like some parts of it and I felt like the ending could be better written.

  • I will do a more detailed review later, but I felt like the hero was too vague. He had no personality and there was nothing interesting about him. He also had a dark and brooding past(They all do) which was given away on the first page. The author also failed to ever describe what he looked like aside from "Tall" and "Dark"

  • A Great Romance-MysteryI like page-turning romances that contain elements in addition to the romance. COUNTESS CONFIDENTIAL brims with two of my favorites, humor and mystery, in a gripping story that solves the puzzle within the last few pages. The heroine, Claire, is exactly to my taste, a strong, no-nonsense woman who does what she must despite the disapproval of her so-called betters. I also like the hero, Simon, a strong man who loves Claire precisely the way she is.Claire's father stands ac [...]

  • Perhaps a 3.5 rather than four stars. I admit I thoroughly enjoyed this book but I can't help thinking some ideas are too alike with the previous novel I read by the same author. Mainly the thief idea and other minor details though subtly done. I might just be looking for faults because I read a review where the author says he/she can't remember why he stopped reading this author and when I browsed for other books the time line, culture, even the almost criminal intelligent characters and the fa [...]

  • This was an author I'd never read, so I wasn't sure what this would be like. I enjoyed this story with a bit of a twist at the end. I had actually guessed who the villain was quite early on, but there are a fair number of red herrings thrown in to muddy the waters a bit (talk about mixing metaphors - even if we do remain aquatic). Now I'm tempted to try some other books by her.

  • I liked the story but I felt like it dragged on and on about the same thing. Then it seemed to end abruptly.Rather than enjoy the time reading it I felt like I just wanted to get it over with. I was disappointed.
