  • An original take on dystopian, urban fantasy with a very likeable young protagonist who impresses us with her grit, maturity and sheer intellectual prowess. The originality of the plot lies in its precarious time placement. It is not completely post-apocalyptic because Namca has recovered and is still functioning to a degree, but total ruin is just around the corner. The city of New Liberty is run by Governors, a mysterious group of law-making oligarchs who live privileged lives while presiding w [...]

  • Marjoram (Marj) is 14 years old. She lives in a not-so-distant time on Earth when pollution and overuse of resources has resulted in a horrible situation. You can't leave your home with a gas mask. You can't swim in the ocean due to the pollutants. You are lucky to get a job and even then some of the jobs are so severe a person's life span is cut short. There are hundreds upon hundreds of rules to memorize in the city of one billion where she lives. Schools teach almost nothing but the rules. As [...]

  • kindle unlimited, came off a bit too much as hunger games but decent enough read, just not my preferred reading but like the writer so wanted to give it a read, so means just because it's only a 4 that's personal thing not really a you should think about not getting it, if you like that type of thing it's worth a look and all. There's only one way to escape the cityLife in New Liberty is tough, but it's the only life Marjoram has ever known. At fourteen, she lives with her parents and wears a bre [...]

  • An absolute pleasure to read. Once I started Crucible Station I could not put it down until I finished it. The author has crafted a wonderfully bleak and downtrodden dystopian world that you can nearly reach out and touch. The main character(s) feel like real people, they aren't the super special chosen one(s) that you find in most dystopian stories. The side characters are full of life and serve their purpose well helping to move the narrative along at a near perfect pace.I can wait for the next [...]

  • A fantastic depiction of what mankind is in the process of creating"Crucible Station" is an incredible book. Julianne has created Earth in a scenario where mankind has destroyed our natural resources and destroyed our environment. This is so realistic and the "trials" an outstanding program that our government ought to make note of. This is going to be an incredible series.

  • Intriguing and well thought outHad to finish it once I started reading. While I know I couldn't pass some of the trials, I enjoyed the way the author explained them in the end. Very well written and thoughtful.

  • I couldn't put this book downNormally this type of book would not even be considered by me to read. I read the synopsis and the price was right so I figured I'd take a chance on it. From the first chapter I was hooked. I cannot wait for more
