The Secret of Hillcrest House

I really enjoyed this book - part romance and part creepy chiller. The descriptions of the house are so real that I felt as if I was there - perhaps not ideal at 1a.m. when you can't put the book down but know you won't sleep! The main characters are lovely, so well depicted and the minor characters are also very real. This will keep you turning the pages and the ending was also unexpected yet finished the book perfectly. I won a copy of this book through Librarything and I was highly disappointed. I was hoping for a very creepy mystery with a little horror/paranormal thrown in and while it did start off good, it quickly became a story about a whiny woman and her police officer boyfriend and where can they have sex while discussing strange things that are occurring in her new house. Had the makings of a very good story.

I really enjoyed this book with its strong heroine, Jessica and gorgeous law enforcer hero, Andre. Choppy plot, no resolution This was a terrible book, the plot was choppy and so full of holes it didn't make sense. The characters had random decisions that made no sense and thoughts were arranged as a strange stream of consciousness. Then there was literally no resolution at the end of the book, not really a cliffhanger just a flat ending

YuckThis book is not worth any stars. There isn't a spine-tingling sentence in the entire thing. It quickly devolved into a set for frequent sexual escapades with barely a sentence to hold the romps apart. would not let me post without a star. If I could have given it no stars, I would have. Save your money. Buy a better book.

I’m always interested to see how an author handles the haunted house theme. Ghost stories can sometimes be a bit formulaic in my mind and I was looking for something a little bit different. Quick and easy read. But, there were somethings that didn't sit with me.Right at the beginning of the story, on pg. 14, it's written: “Mrs. Bell was an angel but man oh man, could she talk.”Hold it right there! That is not how she was portrayed at all. Maybe that's how she was meant to be, but that's not how she turned out on paper. Perhaps more details are needed to fill in the gaps.
