به نظرم لحن کتاب کمی انتقادی بود نسبت به عملکرد حزب کمونیست در شوروی البته در رفتارهای بیخردانه و غیرقابل توجیه حضرات در دوران زمام داریشان هیچ بحثی نیست تصفیه های درون حزبی رفتارهای اشتباه و بروز قحطی های اسف انگیز و اما برای یک کتاب تاریخ اصل بی طرفی در کلام میتواند به قابل [...]

ساده، روان و به اندازه‌ی کافی خلاصه برای معرفی ابتدایی این دوره‌ی تاریخیپیشنهاد می‌کنم قبل خواندن این کتاب «انقلاب روسیه» را از همین مجموعه‌ی «تاریخ جهان» ققنوس بخوانید. انقلاب روسیه بیشتر به تولد و دوران اولیه حکومت کمونیستی روسیه می‌پردازد. کتاب حاضر می‌تواند مکملی بر [...]

همچنان، مثل کتاب قبل. بیشتر اطلاعات عمومی و از روی کنجکاوی بود :)

Informative and easy to understand, even if you don't have much prior knowledge of the Revolution or the Soviet era.

Great summary of the Soviet Union from 1905-1991, from Lenin to Stalin to Khrushchev to Brezhnev to Gorbachev. This book from the juvenile section of the library is only 100 pages and not overly detailed. It was a perfect overview for me, with a daughter in Russia and a son in Ukraine. Although my BA was in International Relations, much has changed since those Cold War days and it was great to get the author's perspective (and quotes from experts) looking back on the USSR and the failures of soc [...]

I found the author's background a little odd - with books on endangered species, entrepreneurship and eating disorders Not to attack his book on an ad hominem level though, because it was well - researched and not too detailed. Great for someone like me, with not too much knowledge of Russian history. more
