Most “Art of…” books are filled with lots of great images of early concept work done for a film. Sanjay Patel has long been one of my favorite artists. (I went to "The Good Dinosaur" specifically to see his animated short.) I had high hopes for this coffee-table tome, and it definitely did not disappoint. Full of sketches, digital renderings and backstory from Sanjay and his animation team, this lovely companion volume to the short film provides depth and insight into its development. Pixar, please give Sanjay Patel his own full-length feature. It's time.

I have been a fan of Sanjay Patel since "The Little Book of Hindu Deities". His art has such cultural depth but is instructive to the Western population. I love that Pixar allowed Sanjay to explore this in film and I very much look forward to seeing the short now! It is coming by Netflix next week.
