Center Stage is a relatively new book. It wasn't what I'd expected, it was cliche at some points and predictable at others. Overall it was a good read, I think it will be a hit to younger teens and people with less expectations in books than I have. I think that the story line is a bit played out but the outcome of the story kind off saves it from being just another musical book, but it also mad it a bit more cliche than it already was. I had read Duffy's THE ROCK STAR'S DAUGHTER and had mixed feelings about it, thinking it was shallow in both plot and character development, and felt very rough around the edges. Yet, when I saw that she had written a book featuring Taylor's friend Alison, I wanted to read it. Loved it, loved it, loved it! Center Stage! tells the story of contestants on a reality show similar to one that is currently on television. It gives the reader a "behind the scenes" view into the lives of the contestants, especially Allison and Elliott, two of the top contestants on the show. This is the first book I have read by this author. Ideal if you want to immerse yourself in a backstage reality show & delve into all the angst that goes on behind the scenes. Lots of vulnerable people, relationship issues & family dilemmas Allison & Elliott embark on the journey as singing contestants. Probably very enjoyable for the Young Adult audience who don’t demand much substance in a story not sure there is much to hold the imagination of an older reader but I’m not ove [...]

All the behind the scene reality show and what a contestant endures. Good reading especially dealing with relationships. Insecurities one succumb to, add crushes and all the things you expect to happen to teenagers, but you have to remember these contestants are young and vulnerable. Funny, cute and everything I suspected would happen did happen, does that make sense? Enjoyable read to entertain you for a little while, well quite a hefty book so it took some time.
