  • Author Leann Sweeney has penned another delightful installment in her Cats In Trouble Mystery series. In my opinion, this is the best one so farE CAT, THE SNEAK AND THE SECRET starts off with mystery in chapter one, even before the body is discovered. And the mystery and intrigue just keep growing for there. It was a fun ride!Murder, a mischievous kleptomaniac kitten, and wedding plans had me so deeply absorbed in this book, I lost all track of time. I really enjoyed spending time with lead char [...]

  • This was another great story in this series. The mystery was wonderful, I had no clue on who committed the crime until its big reveal at the end. These characters are still some of my favorites in cozies. Jillian and Tom are a great couple and I can't wait to see, what is in store for them in the next story.

  • I love this series and this one was really special, with surprises I didn't see coming. I felt a lot of emotions, including humor, sadness, anger and happiness. Plus, I loved Magpie's anticsa feline escape artist, who loves to "collect" things.Jillian Hart is preparing for her wedding, to Tom. Tom's son, Finn, wants to adopt a tortoiseshell (tortie) cat, he has fallen for, while volunteering at the local shelter. Magpie has escaped, again, and turns up inside a sofa at Ed's Swap Shop. Once remov [...]

Their friends are putting together all the loose ends to help make this the most charming event in the town of Mercy. As the wedding dress has the finishing touches done on the alterations there's a new arrival at Mercy Animal Sanctuary. Shawn lets Finn's (Tom's son) know there's a Little kitty waiting for him at he shelter. Torti is just the kitty Finn's been waiting for. All [...]

  • It is a fun visit with Jillian and her cats. Tom and Jillian are planning a wedding. Finn is living with them during summer vacation. The latter has adopted a tortoise cat, named Magpie. She is an escape artist and Ed finds her exploring in a sofa he picked up. This starts a new adventure as Jillian and Kara watch a body exhumed. Tom becomes Police Chief Jillian begins to wonder if Tom will make the wedding as the investigation is going nowhere. The ending is a surprise. This is a must read seri [...]

  • Cats, Cats and more cats are the stars of this mystery but the biggest star is the newest edition, Magpie, the definition of a Magpie is a person that collects things of little or no value it does seem like Finn's little kitty Magpie that he aquired while after several escapes from the animal adoption center, with Magpie found in a old, ratty, bloody couch while working with friend and boss, Shawn is a thief of little things that hold no value or is she but only Finn's dad, Tom an ex cop and fian [...]

  • The Cat, The Sneak and The Secret is the seventh book in the Cats In Trouble series.Things are hectic around the Hart household, as Jillian and Tom's wedding is quickly approaching. In addition, Finn Tom's stepson has decided to adopt a kleptomaniac cat that will take up residence with Jillian three, Chablis, Merlot and Syrah. Somehow the cat, who has been named Magpie, mysteriously shows up at Ed's Swap Shop When Jillian and Finn arrive there, they find Magpie hiding in a sofa. When they get he [...]

  • THIS one was much better than #6, way better. Even though it is very, very sad, it was still way better. And the murderer was a COMPLETE shock to me; I just never saw that coming.

  • This was a first time author for me and it was a great choice. I loved the cat who snitched items from everywhere and everyone, and the main character, Jillian, whom everybody loved. She was a caring, purposeful and well informed lady who encountered some mysterious items. The writing was interesting, and very reminiscent of small towns with a host of characters who seemed realistic. Some were pretty scary underneath. All in all, a tightly wound murder mystery with depth.

  • i love this series! the cats, the dogs and the nice people (ok, it wouldn't have murder, if it didn't have some bad people too) thanks for inviting us to the wedding.

  • In The Cat, the Sneak, and the Secret by Leann Sweeney, Jillian is preparing for her wedding to Tom when Tom’s step-son from his first marriage, Finn, who works at the Mercy Animal Sanctuary, has fallen in love with a cat who keeps escaping from the shelter and bringing back loot. But this time the cat seems to be stuck under an ugly love seat in front of the donation box for a charity thrift shop. When they get her out, Jillian discovers that the cat is covered in blood and also has an antiqu [...]

  • Dollycas’s ThoughtsI just love this series! I have no idea how I missed this book last year. It was the installment I had been waiting for.Tom and Jillian are getting married! Tom’s stepson, Finn, is moving in with them, when not at college, along with his rat terrier, Yoshi. Finn is also adopting a very clever kitty from the Mercy Animal Sanctuary. While the kitten is cute as can be she is also a kleptomaniac and that has earned her the name of Magpie. She is an escape artist too. Tom and J [...]

  • This is the seventh book in the Cats in Trouble series and was just as great as the first six. It is a busy time for Jillian Hart as she prepares for her wedding to her long time love, Tom. But it is not so busy that there isn't time for murder. Tom's son, Finn is moving in temporarily and with him Magpie, a cat he has just adopted. Magpie has sticky paws- in other words she steels things. And it is Magpie who shows up covered in blood and holding the first clue in the murder. A well written plo [...]

  • Diverting cozy mystery--no sex, no graphic violence, no profanity--with cats! However, I'm not certain about the title reference; I thought the cat, Magpie, covers both the first two elements, as she does live up to her name as a kleptomaniac. Upbeat tone despite the murders and family issues, emphasis on family and relationships, small town life, family secrets, and cats. What more do you need?

  • Not a bad entry into the series, not bad at all. Having a little kelpto-kitty myself I can totally relate to what the humans were experiencing with Magpie. I had who did it worked out and enjoyed the wedding prep backdrop.but I was very sad and not happy with the demise of a character I really liked.

  • 4.5 stars for being Leann Sweeney's usual comfortable cozy mystery. I really enjoy her characters, and this book is no exception. That doesn't even include the cats, who get just a little bit involved at a key point, but manage to do it while still just being cats.

  • Another excellent book in this great series! I love the characters, including the animals. I'm sad about one of the murders, but happy with the ending. This is a must read!

  • Jillian and Tom are about to get married and move into the lake house. Tom's stepson, Finn, is home from college for the festivities. The reception will be held at the home of Kara, Jillian's stepdaughter. Finn volunteers at Mercy Animal Sanctuary whenever he is home, and has fallen in love with a tortoiseshell cat who is an escape artist and a kleptomanic. The kitty, named Magpie for her "fetching" ways unearths evidence of foul play in the very first chapter, and the suspense goes on and gets [...]

  • If Pollyanna grew up and became an amateur detective, this book is her story. Jillian Hart is nice. If you're tired of character-wiith-a-flaw writing, then look no further. The story is good, there are plenty of cats, people are supportive to each other, and the couple of plot holes you'll encounter aren't too deep. Unless of course (spoiler) you start wondering why the police didn't get involved when a 14 year old turned up pregnant.

  • These books are like #lifegoals. This lady has three cats, makes quilts for charity and as a business, and fosters cats as well. She has a camera system set up on her house, not for security (ok initially for security,) but so that she can regularly check in on her cats and even talk to them. She’s a genuinely nice person too, thinking of her neighbors and people in her community, even ones she doesn’t know. She’s a part of her community and has friends everywhere. I mean, I’ll say again [...]

  • openbooksociety/article/thBrought to you by OBS Reviewer JeanieWhat do a locket, a ratty old loveseat, and a classic pickup truck have in common? Only Jillian Hart, her fiance Tom Stewart, and best friend Deputy Candace Carson would be able to make sense of this collection. The Cat, the Sneak, and the Secret is #7 in Leann Sweeney’s ‘A Cats in Trouble’ series. It easily can be enjoyed as a stand-alone or in sequence with the series.Oh, it is so much fun to be back with Jillian, Merlot, Syr [...]
