Books that help you solve a murder, a magical and mystical tree and bookshop with a sweet Grandma. Water that has magical powers. The setting is Niagara Falls but Crime and Poetry to me felt like a place more charming and mysterious and like a land of fantasy.This series was way more than I expected, I had this series and author on my TBR for a little while and i'm so glad I finally read it. Amanda's imagination is pure brilliance. The plot was well written and amazing.

What a wonderful cozy mystery! I just hope that Ms Flower sticks with it. (I'm still a little sore that she abandoned her first series with librarian India Hayes after only TWO books!) I really wanted to like this book, and I really didn't like this book. By the end, I felt genuinely sorry for the heroine, and I wanted nothing more than for her to get back in her car, go back to Chicago, and never, ever talk to anyone in her small town again - including, possibly, her own grandmother, the only kin she had left. I was looking for a new cozy to start and all of them weren't up to my taste. I won this book in a Book Giveaway from Berkley Publishing Group, and I am so happy that I won it. I am in love with this new series. I loved all the characters in the book. Quirky and fun. The humor in this book gives you a smile but isn't downright silly. A promising start to a new series!This cozy includes a magical bookstore where the books choose you; and a resident crow that talks. A murder, along with past secrets and sins, lead to a whodunit that had me guessing right up to the end. I cannot wait for book two!

This book was a real surprise for me I'd thought that the book was about (view spoiler)[witches selling grimoires along with maybe potions or other magical accoutrements. Instead it's about a shop that tells you things through the books it pushes on the reader.(hide spoiler)]I thought it was a novel concept, well done by the author. I'll be reading book 2 of the series very soon.

A very good start to an enchanting new para-cozy series. I was very intrigued when I first heard about CRIME AND POETRY. I already know author Amanda Flower is a marvelous writer, but I was curious to see how she handled a cozy with a paranormal element. She did so most admirably. A magical bookstore charming books and the dead body shows up I didn't like the book. The writing was way too simple, with a lot of repeating and explanation. The characters were not particularly likable or funny or inspirational. I just couldn't get my head around anyone in this book, they never came to life for me. Read for #Book1Cozies ClubI really enjoyed this one! The magical elements were kept to a minimum in this installment, but I do look forward to hopefully seeing more of that in future installments of this series. The things I have been cringing from in cozies I've read recently did not pop up in this story, which was much appreciated. I had no idea who the culprit was until pretty close to the end of the story. All in all a very enjoyable read and I look forward to reading more by this author.

Rather a charming cozy mystery involving the poetry of Emily Dickenson, a bookshop in a small town near Niagara Falls and a winsome main character. Nice escapist reading, apparently the first of a series, so I’ll look for more
