Kayla & Eli Discover Jazz

I just got this book today from first-reads giveaway and I was completely blown away. It's been a while since I've been this excited about a children's book. I've looked for a good jazz book to share with my kids, but I could never find a good fit. This is the book I was looking for. It's light, fun, and covered the basics of jazz history. What a wonderful book! I recieved this book from a giveaway. The day it came in the mail I read it to my children (ages 5, 2 and 2) at least 7 times! I teach elementary music and wanted to use it in my classes, but I'm not sure I'll be able to take it away from my own kids. The illustrations are very well done and I love the ryhming stanzas. The information at the back of the book is a nice touch as well. Well Done Mr. Earl!

This was a wonderful book, and my 4 year old daughter just fell in love with it immediately. She now wants to learn all she can about music, when all she did before we read this book was dance too it. She even told me that she wants to learn how to play the trombone or the trumpet, which I played the trombone and my uncle played the trumpet, so she is set in the question department. Thanks for helping her interests grow.

Excellent book! I bought this book for my son, who is almost 3, at a local arts fair yesterday. He wanted to read it all day, and went back to it at bedtime. He has already made up stories about Kayla and Eli. In fact, as he was telling a story at bathtime about Kayla and Eli, I couldn't figure out what he was saying until I remembered their names. I received this book as part of a giveaway.Kayla & Eli Discover Jazz was a fun story to read. I really enjoyed the super bright colors, the way the sounds of jazz were written out and described, as well as the chronological sequence of the story.The back of the book contains a section with a bit of a timeline, as well as common terms used in the jazz world; this was a unique addition that I really appreciated. Its great to find kids books that have an educational aspect included.
