I write emotion packed books about second chances Whether contemporary romances, women s fiction, or Regency historicals, my books all center on belief in the beauty of that second chance I should have known I d become a writer when at age thirteen I began changing the ending to all the books I read It took several years and a number of jobs, including registered nurse, receptionist in a swanky hair salon, accounts payable clerk, and practice manager in an OB GYN office, for me to rediscover writing Enter a mouse less computer, a floppy disk, and a dream large enough to fill a zip drive The rest of the story lives on in every book I write. When I m not working on my craft or following the lives of five young adult children, I m digging in the dirt with my flowers and herbs, making compost yes, making compost , cooking, reading, walking my rescue lab mix, Cooper, or, on the perfect day, riding off into the sunset with my very own hero husband on his Ultra Limited aka Harley.I ve published with Kensington, Carina Press, and The Wild Rose Press. If you d like to receive notification of new releases, please sign up at marycampisi marycampisie mail mary marycampisiblog marycampisi blog twitter twitter MaryCampisifacebook facebook marycampisibooks

  • I have been going through my kindle trying to read books that I already have and not buy more new books. I wondered why I bought this one and I see I got it as a freebie back in 2013!I have never read this author before but I enjoyed it. OK, saw most of the "twists" coming but that didn't take from my enjoyment of the book.Jack was a bit of an ass at times."You have your mother's eyes.Warm as a shot of whiskey on a cold night.""I can't get you out of my system.Even after all these years.""Sooner [...]

  • This is the first book by Mary Campisi that I have read this will not the last This book blew my mind the twist the turns the secrets some shocking some heart warming the revelations totally flawed me Especially Peter and ChristianHave to admit I cried and the story blended well the characters very believable even if I times I wanted to boot Jack up the buttwill not give the story away I detest spoilers If you want to know the story please please download the book you will not be disappointed I [...]

  • I bought this book after reading A Family Affair by Mary Campisi. This book started out good but ended up being boring & silly. I hated the brother and found it incomprehensible that you would end up in a closet having sex with your brother in law right after he performed brain surgery on your child. I skipped over much of the book just because I had already invested my time & I wanted to see how it ended. Another waste as they tied up all the loose ends in a way that was totally unbelie [...]

  • Mary Campisi's Pulling Home was another brilliant book in her Second Chances Series. Once again, it was an enthralling story with captivating storylines, likeable characters and quite a few twists and turns to keep you guessing. There were a few medical inaccuracies, but they didn't distract me too much from the plot. The book was masterfully written, teasing you with hints of the truth, yet keeping the mystery and intrigue alive until close to the very end. In many ways, brilliant surgeon Jack [...]

  • I really like this author as just recently read her first two books in the Family Affair (Truth in Lies Series)—highly recommend, and Pushing Home (Second Chance Book #1) which can be a standalone, was included as a preview in the e-book. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did an outstanding job. The story had a number of twists, secrets, and turns from tragedy to hot sex. A story of misunderstandings, redemption, second chances and love with lots of secrets and shockers near the [...]

  • I was just browsing what book to read until I came across this one, the cover was giving me a suspense vibe and I thought I could need some of that. Plus, the author has the same first name with my favorite suspense author so I had a feeling that it's going to be good. And dang, I love it when I'm right! The first chapter pulled me instantly because of the mystery. Aside from my favorite author, no other suspense/thriller books I've read so far went near her, but dang! This one got a hold of me [...]

  • Let me just say, I was really enjoying this book. characteres, great plot, great twists and turnsd the reason for the three stars just endedwrapped itself up and in a tidy little bow, all angst and bitterness forgiven in the last two chapters without any real discussion or resolution. Sure there was an explanationbut then, bam.l was good and happily ever after. But secrets were kept secrets and for the sake of getting the story wrapped up so many characters were just kind of dropped with one tra [...]

  • BEFORE I HAD GOT TO 10% I HAD GUESSED WHAT THE BIG SECRET WAS AND KNEW IT WAS GONNA CAUSE BIG TROUBLES. STORYLINE READS LIKE AN OLD FASHION SOAP OPERA REMINDED ME A LOT OF “PEYTON’S PLACE”. WHEN THAT BOOK CAME OUT IT TOOK THE COUNTRY BY STORM, I MEAN EVERBODY WAS READING IT. WHEN IT JUMPED TO THE SMALL SCREEN AND ALL THE S*IT SURROUNDING THE STARS IN IT (whew) AND WE DIDN’T MISS A EPISODE. I USUALLY LIKE READING ABOUT SMALL TOWNS BUT HOLLY SPRINGS, NOT SO MUCH TO MANY NASTY MEAN PEOPLE. [...]

  • Another great story, I couldn't believe the outcome, when everything was said and done. I'm serious, I nearly crapped myself, I certainly wasn't expecting that. However I did love the story so much. The characters were great and you became really emotionally attached to them. Even though the story had 'God' in it, which I normally detest I didn't mind this one at all.

  • Good story if you can muddle through the beginningBadly written intro. So bad, I wondered if it was a different writer. Once the book kicks Christian off, it turns into a halfway decent novel of missed connections, misunderstandings, gossip, and keeping secrets.

  • Book reviewI really enjoyed this book. I have read other books by this author. I love how she pulls the characters together with a little twist. I can't wait to read the next book in the series

  • While I liked the general theme and storyline, I felt the author tried to cram too much into 220 pages. I felt that part way through the book the author kept throwing another twist or turn and it turned into a bit of a train wreck.

  • From the beginning of this book I really wanted to like it so I kept reading, even as the beginning was a little slow. The writer's talent is good but I struggled with the depressive turns the story kept taking. If there had been more focus on the love story unfolding and less on shame and judgement, the overall impression would have been much better. Some of the characters I really wanted to like but then there would be some out of the blue episode and I just couldn't. And there were a few too [...]

  • Wow what a start of a series Wow what a start of a series. Even when i knew that it will b ending in a happily ever after, i was thinking, "will it end that way?" Almost till the end, when all the tangles are unravelled. Quite a book which gave me a good feel after i finished it. Can't wait to grab the next one by this author☺Best of all is all books are standalone.

  • So not a spoiler but I didn't see that one coming. This is one of the best HEA I've enjoyed reading. I enjoyed the characters as they developed and grew. Most important-they grew, learned how to be better. Even the ones who didn't have us insight. Loved it. Already have the next one of hers ready to go.

  • Audra had a good life. A husband she adored and a daughter she fired on. Then her husband unexpectedly dies right before his yearly trip to take his daughter home to see his parents. Audra had avoided going back there for years. She has to go back now though. This was an emotionally charged novel with many twists and turns in the plot i didn't see coming. It was a love story but with a twist.

  • Pulling Home by Mary Campisi is a contemporary romance which will have the reader immersed from the start. It is a tale of selfless love. A love that makes sacrifices to protect those around. A love that spans the years. A love that never dies. The novel has its secrets. Secrets that slowly unravel for both the characters and the reader. "Sooner or later the truth comes out." The secrets were meant to protect. The truth may hurt but it needs to come out. There is the topic of gossip within the sto [...]

  • 4 stars Nothing spectacular, but I enjoyed it. Not planning to read the rest of the books in the series now, but I guess I'll give them a try in a future.

  • Review for Mary CampisiI chose to read this book in a very special occasion. As a reader myself , I try to find the right book in the right moment . Moreover, I chose this book because its plot is very similar to the book of Adriana Locke Named "Sacrifice". That book was so spectacular, overwhelming and amazing. She was able to capture my intereste from the first pages. But your book was different, yet similar. Pulling Home narrates the story of Audra , her life; it gives an insight about a woma [...]

  • Pulling Home is book one in That Second Chance series by Mary Campisi. It is also the prequel to Family Affairs book seven. What will a second chance at love do to your families? Audra Valentine has moved away from her home town and her past. She married Christopher Wheyton and moved to California. She has a young daughter and a wonderful job writing for a television series. She has managed to keep her identity as the writer a secret to keep her private life private. That changes when Christophe [...]

  • Jack has never forgiven Audra for marrying his brother, Christain, all those years ago. When she comes back to her home town with her daughter for Christian's funeral, she not only has to face her ex-lover, but a town who has never forgotten the past.Very slow, nearly dragging in the beginning, the story did pick up after a bit. The plot was very interesting, and if I do not want to give away spoilers, I cannot go into detail about it, sorry. I found the characters to be a bit stereotype and ove [...]

  • This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it so much that I was up until 11p lastnight reading most of it and finishing it today(at my desk at work-SHH!). All the turmoil that went on between the characters was driving me crazy, but in a good way. It made for an interesting read about a woman who was completely misunderstood and alone, and a man who couldn't let go of the past no matter how hard he tried. Typical tale about two people who should never have met but somehow did, an [...]

  • When Audra’s husband Christian suddenly dies, she finds herself back in their home town with their eight year old daughter Kara for Christian’s funeral. After living away for nine years and with only occasional visits back, Audra is disliked by Christian’s family who blame her for Christian moving away and when Audra faces Christian’s brother Jack it soon becomes clear that Jack and Audra share more than a history together when family secrets are revealed. At first reading this book I fel [...]

  • What's your favorite soap opera?Since I was fairly young I have had one favorite soap opera that I have followed on and off for nearly fifty years. Lots of women share this guilty pleasure and those gals will enjoy this book. The heroine actually takes it one step farther and secretly writes for a popular show. Only thing is, it's based on her own life and therein begins the unfolding of her real life imitating fiction. This story has it's share of good and bad and just like watching tv, you wan [...]
