  • I wanted a nice summary of Islam from the not-so-modern era (i.e. before 9/11), and I think this book gives a nice overview (published in 1910!). It's a good summary of Islam, its founder, theology, ethics and morals, the condition of the lands under its rule, etc. It's nice because Zwemer cites many historical references in German, French, and other languages from the previous 200 years that were probably some of the original work done to understand Islam.
